Service Projects
The mission of Kiwanis is to serve the children of the world. We strive to follow that mission in our own community, by partaking in service projects that support local youth.

We support our community and beyond in so many ways.
We’ve supported an environment that kids will enjoy for years to come by
- planted trees
- cleaned up parks
- pulled invasive wild mustard
- cleaned and spruced up the Crow Creek Dog Park
- helped out during Bettendorf in Bloom.
We’ve supported education by
- by unboxing the Paul Norton Elementary school library after a renovation, just a few days before school began
- by helping the Bettendorf Public Library with a conversion project that required RFID tags be placed in all 200,000+ items in the collection
- by sorting school supplies for the First Day Project
- by handling registration during the Street Smarts Driving Class for teens
- by helping with after school tutoring at Hoover Elementary
We’ve supported those less fortunate when we
- bag meals for Kids Against Hunger
- serve at the Café on Vine
- adopt four needy families at Thanksgiving and Christmas
- did a big spring cleaning at the Bettendorf Food Pantry
- stocked the waiting room of the local WIC offices with books, so their youngest patrons have something to entertain themselves and even bring home
- assist at the mobile food pantry hosted by the Bettendorf Community School District
We support other service organizations through
- participating in the Circle K bowl-a-thon
- walking at the NAMI walk (National Alliance on Mental Illness)
- helping at the Y’s Turkey Trot
What all of our service projects, past and present, have in common:
All members, their friends and families, are welcome to join us. We particularly like it when we can offer service projects that are family friendly; a number of us bring our children or grandchildren. When it comes to serving the children of the world, that does double duty – not only will children benefit from the service project, but we’re teaching the next generation the value of service.
And, of course, all of the projects are for the betterment of our community. They all support our mission to serve the children of the world: some by supplying their basic needs, some by ensuring that Bettendorf and the Quad Cities continue to be a wonderful place to be a child.
