At our April 12th lunch meeting, we learned about the Victory Dash. This is a 5K run/walk organized by high school student volunteers to benefit the Food Resource Bank in Haiti. The race will be held on Saturday, May 14, 2011 around the streets of Our Lady of Victory church at 4105 N. Division Street in Davenport, Iowa. Runners, walkers and volunteers are needed to make this race a success!

District convention committee seeking help April 2, 2011

The Davenport Noon Kiwanis Club is seeking help from our club to serve on the district convention committee. This year’s Illinois-Eastern Iowa district convention will be held at the Radisson Plaza Hotel in downtown Davenport from August 4th-7th. The committee will also be seeking volunteers to help staff various events. More details to follow.
2011 Roses fundraiser kicks off March 10, 2011

The Bettendorf Kiwanis Club’s annual roses fundraiser kicks off today! Kiwanians are now selling one dozen freshly cut roses in a variety of colors for only $16 each! Administrative Assistant’s Day falls on Wednesday, April 27th, 2011. Update: This fundraiser has now closed.

The Bettendorf Kiwanis Club will award two (2) $500 Outstanding Community Service scholarships to deserving high school students that meet the following qualifications:
- Graduating senior
- Resides in either Bettendorf or Pleasant Valley School Districts
- May attend any area high school
- Will be entering college or other vocational school in Fall 2011
- Returns the completed form by the deadline of April 1, 2011
Update: The deadline has passed to return the form.

The latest news from our Coordinating Council meeting minutes:
- Children’s Therapy Center Telethon will be April 17th at WQAD. Kiwanis clubs are urged to present checks during the last hour of this telethon.
- Saturday, March 12th will be Mallards Night for area clubs at the I-Wireless Center.
- The mid-year district convention is March 26th in Bloomington. Clubs are urged to send a representative.
- The Davenport Noon club has been approached by Wells Fargo about a possible partnership with Habitat for Humanity home. Wells Fargo is seeking Kiwanians to help build the home. More to come.
