Key Club & Circle K scholarship programs February 13, 2017

The I-I District is happy to be able to offer $1,000 scholarships for the 2017-18 school year. The Key Club scholarships are available to current, active Key Club members in the I-I District who will graduating in 2017 and are pursuing a secondary education in the fall of 2017. The Circle K (CKI) scholarships are available to current, active members of CKI Clubs in the I-I District who will be continuing their secondary education in the fall of 2017. The Key Club Application deadline passed in December and the Circle K deadline is February 23, 2017.
The Past Lieutenant Governors Association (PLGA) of the Illinois-Eastern Iowa District of Kiwanis International is also happy to announce having scholarship funds available to an I-I District eligible Key Club high school senior who is enrolling in an accredited two or four-year college or university; and, to an eligible I-I District member of Circle K who is currently enrolled in a graduate or undergraduate program at an accredited university or college. All Clubs in the I-I District Clubs are encouraged to pass this on to their Key Club and CKI Club advisors. This Application deadline is March 15, 2017.

Bettendorf Mayor Bob Gallagher has invited Bettendorf Kiwanis to attend the State of the City address on Wednesday, February 15, at the Waterfront Convention Center. Doors open at 11:00 a.m. Opening/welcome remarks and lunch at 11:30 a.m. State of the City presentation at 12:15 p.m.
Members, please RSVP to Brian by February 6th.
There will be no meeting on Tuesday, February 14.

Bettendorf Kiwanis are now accepting applications for a one-time scholarship to a school of the applicant’s choice. Scholarships will be awarded to a graduating senior who resides in either the Bettendorf or Pleasant Valley School District (regardless of where they attend) and who will be entering college or vocational school in the fall of 2016. The award’s criterion is primarily based on leadership and community involvement. Two scholarships will be awarded in the amount of $500 each.
Application deadline was April 8, 2016.

Lunch will be served at 12:00 Noon, followed by a welcome from Bettendorf Mayor, Bob Gallagher, and our Keynote Speakers, from Loyola University, Colleen Bechtel and Caitlin Murray. Colleen and Caitlin are assisting Dr. Grayson Holmbeck on his work with Camp Independence. They will be speaking about their research and how the program they have helped develop at the camp helps children deal with spina bifida.
